You know how they say that a smile is contagious? Well, it certainly was at AgeingLIFE Exhibition.
The event – which was held at Mingara Recreation Club – offers over 55 year olds and their adult children valuable information about the resources and opportunities available in their local area with the aim of helping to build self confidence in socializing and becoming involved in community groups and activities. With that in mind, the SMILE girls made their way up to the Central Coast to be part of this fantastic event.
SMILE’s mission is to make exercise fun, low impact and available for all no matter your physical ability. This statement resonated throughout the day as the girls strove to reinforce the importance of keeping active while enjoying oneself exercising. From live demonstrations to company networking, the AgeingLIFE exhibition was the perfect base. We were also overwhelmed by the interest from retirement villages seeking something different for health and wellbeing for their residents.
In terms of demonstrations, the girls offered free mini lessons for those who wanted to get a feel of the program with most participants purchasing the DVD afterwards. Moreover, the chance to connect with big companies such as Anglicare, UnitingCare and the Wesley Mission not only enabled some great networking, but ended up being incredibly insightful and inspiring.
However, talking to the absolutely beautiful visitors of the event was a major highlight. Each and every one of them were fun, unique and interested in finding out more about our program and how it could suit them. We were even able to speak to a lovely lady who purchased our DVD for her husband who suffers from Parkinsons. It’s moments like these that make us so proud of SMILE and the potential the program has on changing the lives of so many.
We like to think that we helped “spread the SMILE” throughout the day!
The whole day was a success and we had so much fun meeting everybody while promoting the many benefits of the SMILE program.
